I had an experience this morning where I allowed some people to make me feel badly about myself.
It hit me hard because I felt badly about myself at the job I put my most effort and heart into- being a mother.
I vented to my sister and then I talked with my husband, and then I had a choice to make.
I could stay here in this feeling of inferiority or I could take a moment to reconnect, re-calibrate, and to remember who I am.
Because I am not what anyone else else thinks of me. I am not who anyone else makes me feel that I am.
I am love. I am worthy. I am powerful in my gifts. I am a child of God.
I thought I’d share my method of reconnecting with the heart:
I decided to step outside because nature always reminds me of the beauty this world has to offer. This helps make my problem seem not as important and small compared to the majesty of nature.
I became quiet with myself. I rocked back and forth on a swing because the movement helps me reset. You can rock side to side standing up or sitting on the floor or even just take a walk.
I put my hand on my heart and I repeated three things that I am. For me, this was I am love. I am worthy. I am powerful in my gifts. For you it could be different. Pick what seems right to you and don’t second guess it.
Then I said to myself- I forgive you for whatever part you think you played in that transaction. You are forgiven so let it go.
And so I did.
I have a lot more day to live. A lot more mothering to do. A lot more yoga to teach. A lot more love to spread. So I’m going to go do that now with a peaceful and open heart. Without the baggage of someone else on my shoulders.
I hope this helps you if you find yourself in a situation where someone is making you feel badly about who you are. Even if it’s not your thing- try it! It works!

Do not give consent to others to decide who you are. You know who you are. So live in the beauty and love inside you.
